| E. T. Ellison's first novel is earning high praise from many corners. And awards, too! Critics have likened him to such diverse literary voices as Robert Heinlein, Terry Pratchett, Jack Vance, J.R.R. Tolkien, Kenneth Grahame, Bruce Sterling, Piers Anthony, Phillip Jose Farmer and Larry Niven, among others. They've also predicted the Last Nevergate Chronicles is headed for classic status, in the company of such as Asimov's Foundation Trilogy. Only time will tell, of course, but we're grateful for the kind words. And not too surprised. Some excerpts appear below. June 2003 -- Book of the Year 2002 first place gold winner from prestigious ForeWord Magazine, the voice of independent and university publishers. December 2002 -- January Magazine's selection of the 92 Best Books of 2002. One of the top six science fiction/fantasy titles.
"Highly
imaginative." "Conflict
abounds, characters are larger than life, and the technology projections
are superb. This is sci fi at its best. This will be a classic work
on the scale of the Foundation [Isaac Asimov] or Dorsai [Gordon R.
Dickson] series. We gave it our highest five hearts rating." “Here’s something that flew in well off
the radar that deserves a lot more attention than [the] latest Tolkien/Rowling
mishmash. A rip-roaring good tale…a story for all ages. Better
put, this is a story for all those people hip enough to “get
it.” “…
an impressive, sprawling book that manages to mix the best of fantasy and science
fiction. Ellison’s speculation on future pop culture is some of the most
thought-out and well presented I’ve seen; the world-building here is
top-notch. The sociological satire is both funny and eminently believable,
as are his inventions.” For more info on what makes the Chronicler's Edition a genuine collectible in addition to being a fine novel, click here.
